Snow

It is snowing at last. We finally got some snow. It is just beautiful and very cold! It will be down in the twenties tonight so the old woodstoves are burning. Trying to get over the flu so I have been eating hot cinnamon candy to keep my throat from hurting so bad and it also helps suppress the cough.

Life in southern Indiana

Woke up to the sunshine today and thought it looks like spring. Or maybe global warming? My avon came in so I have lots and lots of beauty supplies to sort. Then I get a call they need me to come in work. So I am getting ready to go in so I can get a few extra hours on my check. This month is flying by, it will soon be a new year. I will be celebrating my 16th wedding anniversary on the 31st of this month. Wonder what exciting adventure my husband has planned!

No blizzard here

I waited up for the big snow but it never hit. I did see some snowflakes flowing through the air but it looks like that snow storm has hit somewhere else. It has been a cold and dreary day. I still dream of owning some land out in the middle of no where and living off the grid I just wonder when that will become a reality. I am still working part time. I still don't make enough to pay off the bills and wish they would just disappear. Not likely though. I put my resume in for another job and hope to hear something soon. Car payment is late,paid the insurance,credit card payments are still due and so is the electric,water, and gas. Oh please let me go live off the grid in the mesa. :) Or somewhere! I just want a simple life.

Deer Hunting

It's that time of the year again and the boys are in the deer hunting mode. Two of them have already got one. The deer jerky is delightful! One buck and one doe. This year the limit is 8 in our county and one buck. So we still have lots more to hunt for. I love to go deer hunting myself and might even get a chance to go this year. We will just have to wait and see.

Rainy day

I get to go to work today. It was my day off but I need the hours bad. So I am working for someone else today. It's cold and rainy out there today.

Pay Day Stock UP

Pay day hurray! Got the car payment made and made a payment on the electric bill. I get to go grocery shopping today. I saw my sister yesterday and she seemed a little better. David came by yesterday and brought a load of wood. Be sure to stock up on wood in case you need it in hard times. If you cant get gas or buy it without a chip in your hand then you cant use a chain saw to cut it right. Get your woodpile stocked!

Kids are better

Finally getting back to themselves I know the kids are feeling better! Praise the Lord for it! Worked yesterday. Waiting for friday so I can pay my car payment. I talked to them today about my car payment and told them I will be paying on friday so maybe they will stop calling. There is a cold wind a blowing here and I am ready for winter. The sooner it gets here the sooner it leaves right? Some snow ice cream wouldn't be bad either.

Bills

Is there ever an end to bills? I would like to think so but I am beginning to wonder. Too many bills. How can one pay them all? Worked tonight. Put my orders in for this campaign. Had quite a few orders which is good. Every little bit helps out. Don't get paid till friday so the finance company gets to have fun calling till then. Have a great day in blog land!

H1N1 Flu

Green got sick the other day and started running a fever, he was down and out and didn't feel like sitting up to get a drink. Paul took him to the Dr. and they said it cost to much to do the h1n1 test and went ahead and started him on Tamiflu because he had all the symptoms, next Ben gets it and he is down and out for about a day, Green still extreemly weak and not able to do much more than sit up and get a drink and take his meds. Fever ran about 102.5. So seeing how this is spreading pretty fast I went ahead and took the rest of the kids to the Dr. and got Ben started on the Tamiflu too. I also got a bottle for Harrison just in case while we were there. The Dr. said not to start him on it unless his fever went above 101 and he had not started running a fever yet. So we went home and sure enough it hit Harrison that afternoon. He was down and out too. Three very sick kids and the little one had not got it yet. Dr. says if the little one gets it to bring her back to see him and he was going to be closed the next day.

Birthday Money

It's almost my birthday and I got a hundred dollars from mom! Thanks again. It came in real handy and at the right time too! I still have some of it. The headphones that I bought come in real handy for my computer and others who want to listen to stuff on their computers that I don't want to hear. It's cold here in Indiana. It was going to get down to 32 degrees last night. I guess it did I didn't check the thermometer to see.

Life as a nurse

Every day I go to work I never know what is in store for me. Each day I learn something new. I am so thankful for the people I take care of and the fact they are glad I am there to help. Working as a nurse has it's challenges every shift. When you make it through you feel like you have accomplished something.

Good night at work

I had a pretty good night at work. Made it home safely. I don't have to go back until Saturday! It is getting cold in Indiana. We have the wood stove going tonight! I had a steak dinner waiting on me when I got home. It was delicious!

October Updates

This is my most favorite time of the year. I love to watch the leaves change colors and fall to the ground. The kids love to play in the leaf mountains they make. It is cold here and will be in the 30's by tuesday. We have our woodstoves burning again and have a wood pile that should last for a few months anyway. I have to work this weekend. My car payment is late. I will pay it but not till next friday on payday. I still have 2 credit cards I need to start paying on. I guess my phone will just keep ringing with bill collectors at this point. My sister is very sick again, the cancer is back and worse then last time. Please keep her in your prayers. I put in for a transcription service job that I could work from home but they only hire when needed and they are very selective. I am thinking about selling avon again. I loved selling avon. My fuller brush business has went no where. No one has the money to buy cleaning supplies. Well a few does but that is not going to make me much money so it looks like its back to avon. Rain Rain and then More Rain with my House party Green Works

We have had a fair share of rain and it just keeps coming. I am wondering if maybe we should invest in a boat! I was doing dishes earlier today when my 15 year old says "mom, come here" I said what? He said is this your stuff out here, I looked out the door and walked around the front of the house to see my house party kit had been delivered by UPS but they didn't bother to hand it to me instead they just sit it on the porch, and did I mention that we have had lots and lots of rain. The package was ripped apart and soaking wet. The UPS guy apparently left the package sitting and the dog found it. I was fit to be tied. My son and I went through the broken box pieces that were scattered and tried to salvage all we could of the package contents. This was going to be my big house party. Well I was able to save most of it, lost some of the coupons and the dog chewed a few items too. I still plan to go green with what I have left.

1 Week and Still Going Strong

One week ago I started on the weight watchers program and today I weighed in 7 lbs lighter! I even had the extra weeks points available that I didn't have to use. Not a bad week to begin with. I know it wont be like that every week but at least I am off to a good start!

Heart of Cardon Award

I just wanted to tell everyone I got the Heart of Cardon award at work for the month of July. I was excited! I also got a hundred dollar bonus check. It was really a big surprise. Dream of Endtimes

I had a dream that I was on my way to my parents house and I noticed all the animals were acting strange along the way. The horses were running and the cows and other animals were all watching toward the east. Then all the sudden ahead of me in the distance I saw the trees just go forward over to the ground. I turned around and headed back and next thing I knew I was at work and I was trying to help the people there. I had a minute to call so I opened my cell phone to call home to check on everyone and my cell phone had been fried. Then I figured we were running on generators and somehow they still worked. After that we were going to the store to get supplies and at the store they were only letting people in that they knew. It was a very disturbing dream. I couldn't make contact with anyone and we knew that there had probably been a nuclear explosion. What a dream!

Busy Week again

What a busy week again. We had two birthdays, Happy 21st birthday David and Happy 3rd birthday Addie! Sorry no pictures as soon as she got ready to blow out the candle I ran for the camera and the batteries were dead! I hate it when stuff like that happens. Anyway, we are getting ready for another home school year of fun and learning adventures. Even though the littlest one is only three she is smart so she is starting this year too. I am hoping she will be reading by the end of the year. Well see you all later. One more day off then I go in early for my meeting about my new job as a clinical liaison. Oh what fun!

Garden is ready

I just love those cherry tomatoes they are so delicious! I froze 4 big bags of corn on the cob. They will be tasty this winter! My peaches didn't do well this year so no fresh peach jelly. I still have some left over from last year though. Good thing we had plenty last year!

New Job Posting

Last night after work I was looking at the bulletin board and noticed a new job position for a clinical liaison for potential admissions. After talking if over with my husband he decided I should put in for it. So I agreed and will find out next week who got the job. I have no idea how many will try for it and it will require more driving, which doesn't bother me at all. Metal Detecting

My Favorite bank closing National City

We have two branches of National City Bank in Town and today we get a letter in the mail saying my favorite one is closing. All our information will be transferred to the other bank on the square. How sad. This bank has been open for as long as I can remember. Hard times have it this little town and I am sure there is more to come. More people loosing their jobs that never thought they would. Times are Tough Local Hospital Files Bankruptcy

You know times are tough when you read the front page news stating that your local Hospital has filed for Bankruptcy. You keep hearing more and more about how bad things are and how most everyone is broke. People are loosing their jobs and it is not getting better. It was really sad to read that there will be no more babies delivered at the local hospital after having 6 there myself. It was a really nice birthing center and the only one in town. This little town is going broke along with the rest. Times are tough and I am sure that there will be more to write about soon. I will keep you updated.

Thank God For Thursdays

I woke up this morning thinking it was Friday. Knowing I had to go back to work on Friday I was not a happy camper. So I sit down in my chair and started reading my emails. One of them had the title Thursday on it. What? Had I lost a day. Possible I guess. So I click down on my calendar and sure enough. It's thursday! Thank God for Thursdays! I don't have to go out to work today!
We had some more new baby chickens today. They are brown and fluffy and adorable. We worked on the chicken cage and got most of it done. The weather is just wonderful here. It seems like fall has arrived. Makes it nice when your in the garden pulling weeds! Well I am going to go enjoy my Thursday and you do the same!

Little Lost Bird

I walked outside the door to find this little bird that had fallen by my house. It was making all kinds of noises but I didn't see the mother bird anywhere. We got some worms and smashed them up and fed it to the little bird and it was very thankful.

Laundry Day

It seems like almost every day is laundry day around here. I did four more loads today. Since my dryer broke I get to hang it all out on the line. That doesn't really bother me though because I get some exercise while I do the laundry. I Home schooled the kids, made a big kettle of beef and noodles today and had enough leftovers for tomorrow. I made a horse for sale sign also but that didn't go over well at all. I think they would rather sell me then the horse, go figure. I took a ride out in the country today trying to find a camper for sale or some land I might be able to buy on contract. No luck there. At the end of the day I broke down and ordered pizza. So much for saving money today. I will try harder tomorrow. Till then have a great day out there in blog land.

Time with Family

I must admit, I have had the best time at home this week with my family. I loved being a stay at home mom and I got spoiled this week. It was nice to not worry about heading to work. I actually got every room in the house picked up some. That is a chore when your a working mom. For me it is anyway, I run out of energy by the time I get home from work. I look forward to the day when I can stay at home with the kids again everyday!

Swine Flu on the Rise

I decided to check out the number of swine flu cases now in the world and got a big surpise. Almost 36,000 people now have been infected with the swine flu as of yesterday and the numbers continue to rise. I imagine before long the Dr. and hospitals are going to start running out of supplies to treat swine flu victims with. Time to figure out what can keep you from getting this in the first place. I suggest eat garlic. No one wants to be around anyone that smells like garlic so that would keep people away at the least.

Camping Trip

We finally made it to the yearly camping trip. We took the dogs and the horse this year. We found a patch of blackberries and stained our hands purple while we were there. One amazing thing it didn't rain! We did not get to go caving this year because Cave river valley is still closed, we used to have so much fun there. They still have the sign on the gate that says they were planning on opening in March but that never happened. Maybe next year.

Garlic and Ticks

I have been researching on ways to keep the ticks away for our camping trip and it looks like garlic is one natural way to keep those ticks away. I fed the kids some garlic and ate some too. It is also great for keeping away the mosquitoes and fleas. So not only is garlic good for cooking but it is great as a natural repellent also. No worry about harmful chemicals that is hazardous to your health!

Tornado Watch

I don't think the camping trip is going to be today. One storm after another and now we are under a tornado watch. I wonder how all those people living in tent cities are handling the rain and storms, they have to to soaked. If you had some tarps that would help. Put tarps on the survival list if you have not already.

Ticks and the Woods

We spent one afternoon cleaning up our camp site trimming weeds and picking up sticks. The red ants and ticks are really bad this year. We got the grill all filled with sticks and now we just need to take out the camping supplies.

Camping

Finally vacation time has come, it has been a long year but I survived. We all talked it over and I guess we are planning a camping trip. The kids are so excited they cannot wait. The weather here is so nice as long as we don't get any thunderstorms this weekend we will be alright. I wanted to buy a camper but until I get the credit cards all paid off I guess we will be putting up a tent. Planning and preparing for the next few days. Oh did I say packing (the three p's.) I will be sure take lots of pictures to share with you all.

Yard Sales and Black Widow Spiders Part 2

Meanwhile my older son had picked up the sheet and put it on the clothesline. I was going to wash it but did not want to bring it in until I had a chance to look it over real good to make sure there were no spiders. I started to get really tired so I decided to lay down and fell asleep for a few hours. After I woke up I looked at my finger and it was twice the size it should be and now my hand was starting to swell also. I could see the area where the poison was attacking and it was warm to the touch and turning red. I decided to take my husbands advice and put mud on my hand. So I sit with mud on my hand in pain and wished I would have put the mud on it earlier. My hand remained swollen for the rest of the night and I couldn't find the spider in the car I had saw earlier. I woke up the next day and I guess the mud helped. My swelling had went down and the pain was not as intense. I decided to check the sheet out to see if there were any more spiders on it but figured since it had been all night if there were any they would be gone by now. To my surprise I found a little spider, crawling across the sheet. I ran to the house and grabbed a canning jar found a lid and back out to the clothes line I went. I caught the spider and it was what I believe to be a baby black widow. I don't know how many more there were but I told my husband to take that sheet and burn it. But be very careful when doing so. So be sure when you are going out to yard sales to examine your purchases very closely. I wouldn't want any of you to get bit by a surprised hitchhiker.

Yard Sale Warning

I have been a yard sale addict for many years and My husband and I went to look at some land this weekend while on the way we saw a yard sale. I of course did my little yard sale yippee there's a yard sale, we will have to stop there on the way back! On the way back home we come by the yard sale and he pulled in. We got out looked around, bought a toe nail clipper for the dog for 50 cents and then started looking through the clothes, I found a nice sheet and asked how much for the sheet. 50 cents she said. After looking at sheet prices in the store I knew this was a great deal so I bought the sheet and we headed home. After we pulled in all the kids had already got out of the car and I picked up the sheet to bring in and when I looked down I saw something black crawling in my car, within a few seconds I starting feeling stabbing pain burning in my finger by my wedding ring. It hurt so bad I ran to the house and grabbed a pack of sausage out of the freezer and applied it to my finger. This was some terrible pain,and then my finger started swelling in no time. I took my wedding ring off and my finger pretty much doubled in size. My husband said put some mud on it that will pull the poison out from the sting. I said I didn't get stung and there was not any bee, all I seen was a little spider crawling and it wasn't on me it was crawling in my car. * To be continued*

Long Hard Night at Work

After a long hard night at work I have been working on my bzzagent. I am currently working on adding content about burt's bees. What a neat line of stuff. Day Off

Had a day off and we had quite and interesting day. Dad came to visit and brought Green a birthday card with money. He also brought some dresses for Addie and lots of other misc items for the kids. Checked my bank account this morning and guess what, National City Bank got my money back! It is pending but showing available at this moment. Praise the Lord! I was started to wonder but I guess whoever took my money had to give it back! I am going to be really careful about using my new card for sure!

No Word From the Bank

I got a call today from work, it was my day off but they had a call in and needed a nurse so I said ok since I am running low on cash. Got back home and checked the bank account and no changes. Still missing my money. I hope they catch whoever hacked my account. It looks like they should have insurance to cover that and pay me back my money. That's why I put my money in a bank so they can protect it right? The more I think about it why would they let a charge go through for more money than was in there in the first place. That just don't seem right. Oh and thanks mom for offering to help out with the finances. Your the only one who offered! I know everyone is having a hard time getting by these days so I do understand. You know I wasnt kidding when I said take your money out of the banks if you have alot. Don't put all your eggs in one basket! Scatter them out in case of emergency.

Bank Card Fraud continues

Ok I go to my online bank account and check to see if the bank by any chance got my money back from the fraudulent charge of 600.00. To my surprise I see another charge from the same place for 12.00 more dollars, some kind of international charge. So apparently who ever hacked my account is overseas, or using my card overseas or something. I called the bank and they were already on top of it. If that is the case, how come I got another charge? Get your money out of the banks if you have any. You could be next!

When it rains it pours!

Well I made it to the bank to fill out the affidavit against the crooks mopet that put fraudulent charge on my bank card (that took more money than I even had in the bank account). Who knows when I will get that money back. The bank is going to try though. I got a call from my sister today that had been declared cancer free to find out they found another mass. My oldest son got his electric turned off and is living at his house in the dark. He really doesn't mind because he is wanting to live like without the modern day conveniences. Praise God anyway! Pray for my sister. Have a great day.

Victim of Credit card fraud

You hear of it everyday and always think it will never happen to me. Well my day came, just as all those who become a victim I got my bank card hacked! Yes someone stole my information and took more money then I even had in the bank. I get a call today from National City saying did you make a purchase for 600.00 because we don't think you did. They said it was to a company by the name of mopet. I had no idea what they were talking about but they said someone had hacked my information and was using my card to make purchases. I had to get rid of my card, they would stop any other purchases from going through and would send me a new card. So I have no money in my account, matter of fact I am in the hole! I have never heard of mofet before and have to go monday to fill out an affidavit to try and get my money back which could take up to ten days! This is all crazy. You never really think it could happen to you. I don't like to ask for help but if anyone has any extra cash you can paypal it to me @ sweetpea_47167@yahoo.com to help out with expenses. I don't think some people actually realize what some people in America are going through just trying to survive. My husband told me the other day that there was a guy on you tube that said there are 300 families living in the national forest that had been displaced. This is just one area in one state. Think about the bigger cities. They are starting to make tent cities. You are blessed if you have a roof over your head. Times are tough, and a lot of people don't have jobs. There are lots of people claiming that food shortages are coming. Store up while you can. Buy rice and beans. Dried milk and water. Get prepared while you have finances to do so. You might even want to buy a tent just in case!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and moms to be out there! I finally got all my mother's day shopping done. I hope they like their gifts. I ordered some of them from an online store called Etsy. I have been following this story pretty close and sure enough it has been spread to the United States. This flu seems to be moving quick and causing quite a concern. It has been detected in California,Texas,Kansas, and New York. I am sure when it's all said and done there will be lots more. Are you ready and prepared to survive what may come of this? Just think, people who went to Mexico for vacation may be working next to you, going to the same school,working at the local grocery,or restaurant. Or might even be your healthcare provider, you dont know. Take precautions and make sure you have food and supplies to stay away from the public if need be.

Storms on the Way

Rain today and strong storms tomorrow for my area. As I was walking through the woods today it was so amazing how many trees had been uprooted from the strong winds we had last year. Trees down all over the place. Plenty of little shelters everywhere!

Taxes Finished

Got the state taxes finished and filed before the deadline. Yes I was pushing it this year. Now if I could just get the company taxes up to date I would be doing ok. I am sure I will have more time to work on them since I have went to part time.

Last day of work

Ok, this week has been a real rough one. I have had a pretty tough week at work and I decided I couldn't take it no more. I was really going to quit at the appointed time of my two weeks notice. The new schedule came out and I had my last two days on there and I went walking down the hallway to take care of my patients when I started thinking now I have to tell them I am quitting. The thought of that was more than I could imagine. How could I tell these people that I have been taking care of for nine months that I am not going to be working there anymore? So much for the last day of work for me. I couldn't do it. I feel like they are a part of my family and I have to stick it out. So, part time it is! More time at home with the family, then away for a couple days a week with my other one.

Coming closer to Home

I had the weekend off and got alot accomplished. I also put in my two weeks notice and then reality kicked in. How am I going to make my payments? So my plan is to go to part time after I get the next 6 days in out of 7 on the schedule. I am looking forward to spring and planting my garden. Time has already sprung forward and I got up early this morning. This is a miracle :) Time to get ready for work. Have a great day in blog land!

Praise the Lord I got one of my credit cards paid off

The money order was sent out yesterday for the last of the payments on one of my credit cards. One paid off and three to go. This has been a hard struggle and I would not advise anyone to get a credit card. Pay for what you get up front with cash, dont charge it or you will be paying lots more than you can imagine.

An inch of snow

We got an inch of snow or so. I get to go to work and it is going to snow more according to the weather channel. I hope I don't get snowed in. At least the kids are going to have fun playing in the snow!

I finally have enough money to pay off one of my credit card bills. I called them and they said they could not take a personal check that I would have to send a certified check or money order. I think they just try to make it as difficult on a person as they can. It's so hard to save money these days, they better take the money when I offer it.
