Blizzard

Christmas is over and the Blizzard is hitting.  The beautiful white flakes are swirling around the air and landing where they may.  Southern Indiana looks like a blanket of white snow.  If it's going to be cold it might as well snow!  Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Sunday Morning Church Services

We made it to church this morning and had a great Sunday lesson.  Now if I can just apply it all to my life I would be doing great.  Baby steps that's what I have to work toward just like anyone else.  Got some more shopping done today so I am one step closer to being caught up.  I have such a busy couple weeks ahead that I will running to keep up with everything to do.  Hope you all have a great week out there in blog land!

Teens and End Times

After trying to stay strong and enforce the rules of "Obey your parents" and "Do your Homework" we have came to a difficult decision to call out for help.  Sometimes teens just wont listen and what else is there to do.  Please keep my 16 year old in your prayers for the days we are living in are evil and it is so hard for him.  He tries to study his Bible and has so many attacks from this wicked world that he is in some hard times right now.  Yes it's hard for any family raising teens in the world we are living in today!  We must stay strong for them and for the other family members involved.  It will get better.  He will get better too!

Stomach Flu Gone

Praise God the stomach flu has left us.  It was back to work around here as normal today.  A few times some nausea came sweeping in but we were all able to keep going and say good bye flu!  The little children finished reading all the books for the November book it program and was able to score them a free pizza tonight, way to go kiddos!  Keep up the hard work and read read read!

Thanksgiving leftovers

Well the one child that didn't make it because of the stomach flu was able to get here the next day for Thanksgiving leftovers.  We had a great visit.  I was so glad I was able to see all my children this week.  One  day later and you know it, the little children came down with the stomach flu.  One by one and then it hits me yesterday.  Nausea, has set in but not vomiting yet for me.  I cleaned up one mess after the other all night long from the little ones.  I finally was able to get them some bags since they were not able to make it to the bathroom before they would start vomiting.  Now after resting most the day and into the night every muscle in my body aches.  Not sure if its part of the flu or because I tripped over a baby doll going down the stairs and hit the bottom of the stairway.  Anyway the only thing we have been able to keep down so far is sprite.  And the little ones didn't keep all that down.  I hope this is no longer than 24 hour stomach flu because I am ready for this to be over now!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was great and all the kids showed up except one who had the stomach virus.  We had a huge feast and then rested the end of the day.  Thought about going out to score some deals at the stores and thought no way did I want to fight the crowd so I stayed home.  The wind is blowing and it seems to be getting cooler today.  There is a chance for snow on Sunday.  We have 7 new baby cockatiels and one more egg to hatch.  We have yellow and white ones.  Well here is to a day of cleaning up and preparing my coupons to go get some deals.

November Updates

It's a cool crisp morning here in southern Indiana this morning.  You can always tell when the wood stove is almost empty that's for sure.  Nothing a little hot coffee can't fix though. We have three doctor appointments today so I will be glad when this day is over.  The kid's have to get their annual check up and then we will be good till next year.  We brought the birds in from the garage so now it sounds like we are living in the jungle. It is just too cold out there since he doesn't keep the stoves in the garage going all winter.  A couple of the Cockatiels are setting on some eggs so it wont be long and we will be having baby cockatiels again.  I will try to upload some new pictures of the new birds when they arrive. Have a great day out there in blogland!

End of Nice Weather

This is the last day of the nice weather.  The yard sale was a success even though the day we had it we were getting some real nice cold weather!  At least the rain held up while we were having it praise God!  I got half the front porch cleaned off now and we are starting to fill it up with some firewood.  Cold air is coming tomorrow so we enjoyed the nice weather as long as we could.

What's the deal with the Wind

I could understand if I lived on the coastline where the hurricanes came in but I am in Indiana and lately the winds are becoming unreal. Days of winds some knocking down trees and causing power outages. I remember some years back we had a real bad windstorm and there were power outages for days.  Winds and yard sales just don't mix and I was so ready to have a yard sale to get rid of this extra stuff on my front porch but now I am beginning to wonder if it's going to happen. Maybe I should just buy a kite instead.  Or hook up some kind of wind power now that's an idea!

Last Yard Sale of the Year

So it's the end of the year and I still have a huge lot of yard sale stuff.  When low and behold one of the neighbors dropped off a flyer that said they are having a community yard sale on Oct 20th.  Now I can get that front porch cleaned up and sell the rest of my stuff and hopefully make a few bucks.  Time to get rid of some more clutter in the house and whatever don't sell I am thinking about donating it to the Clothing drive and Goodwill.  So anyone wanting to venture out to buy some neat stuff the Canton Community is having their first Annual Yard Sale in Salem Indiana be sure to come on Oct 20th 2012.  Canton is just a few miles east off hwy 56 from Salem Indiana. See you there! Everything is CHEAP!

End of Camping Season in Indiana

For most folks here in Indiana we are wrapping up the last of the Camping season for 2012.  We decided to head out for another trip before the cold air settled in. We loaded up the camper and away we went to the great outdoors.  We hiked, cooked out on the open fire and let the kids climb the trees.  Before long the rain came and we got to sleep listening to the raindrops hitting the top of the camper.  The temperature dropped and before long we had to turn on the heat.  Looks like we waited to the last possible minute but at least we got one more trip outdoors.

Broken Finger

I know it's been a while since my last post but this time I have a good reason.  I took a tumble down the steps at my son's house one rainy day and apparently broke my finger.  It has been over a week and I have been trying to keep my finger in a splint which eases my pain.  I have done exercises with it and I am still having quite a bit of pain if I don't wear my splint.  So here is to a speedy recovery and hoping that my finger will heal quickly and all the swelling will go down so I can get on with my life.  Keep me in your prayers!

It has been two years ago yesterday that I lost my sister to the battle with cancer.  Seems like the days just go by so fast.  I don't know how it could have been two years already.  She believed in Jesus so I know she has nothing to worry about now and I am so glad none of us has to see her suffer anymore.  She was a great sister that I will never forget.  I love and miss you Angie!

Ben has been taking Violin lessons and is learning how to play twinkle twinkle little star for his first song.  He has done a great job so far and Harrison continues to play the Guitar while Addie is thinking about playing the piano.  They grow up so fast.

It is storming here tonight and we are finally getting that much needed rain we needed all summer.  It has been getting cold enough to fire up the wood stoves at night already.  Looks like we are in for a cold winter. Our wood supply is ready though so bring on the snow :)

Learn to Barter

When times are tough everyone learns you gotta do what you gotta do and a real great way to help out families in need is to barter.  I am sure in the days we are living there will be a lot more bartering going on.  When work is scarce and money is hard to come by sometimes you can trade what you have for something you need that someone else might want to trade you for.  For example:  We run a small glass company in a little town and recently traded some glass work for this year's wood supply.  We got what we needed and the other company got what they needed.  It's a win win situation. Try it sometime and enjoy the freedom of living off the grid.

Boil water advisory Burn Ban Lifted

From what I am reading the local paper said the Washington County commissioners have finally lifted the burn ban.  We can finally get some of this stuff cleaned up around here.  Looks like there is a boil water advisory for part of the town too so not sure what all is going on with that.  Worked yesterday getting items ready for a yard sale.  I really need to get rid of alot of clothes and misc and can hopefully make a few bucks while doing it.  Dad came over to visit yesterday and brought me some more yard sale stuff to make a few bucks on so now I just have to figure out where I am going to come up with some more tables.  We took a Soliday Holiday yesterday and I am sure everyone who is related can figure that one out.  Back to the drawing board today though and school as usual.

When are they gona lift the burn ban

It seems like a long summer since they have enforced the no burn ban in our county.  You hear call after call of people reporting other people because they are trying to burn some trash and our county has been under this burn ban way too long.  It is raining tonight so be some chance they could lift it soon.  It really makes it bad on people who are used to burning their own trash.  This whole neighborhood just seems like it is going crazy.  People threatening people yelling and screaming and I thought I was pretty much in the country but just not country enough for me.  I want some peace and quiet and I am done with all the crazy people that want to cause trouble.  What can I say but I really just don't like this little town.  I couldn't imagine living in a big city.

School has started

It's that time of year and School has officially started.  Our Home School begin on Thursday last week so we have two days in so far.  It started out a little crazy but all ended well.  The next day went a lot smoother and the kids were studying hard.  It has finally cooled down a bit so much as at night we have to keep the windows shut to keep the cold out.  Sure beats those 100 degree days we were having.  We have another new Cockatiel to add to the group.  The baby birds are growing and more eggs are ready to hatch.  It has been a great year for the birds around here.  I counted over thirty chickens the other day and the children love playing the catch chicken game.  The new puppies are running around the yard eating good and are old enough to make it on their own but the children do not want to give them away.  They have too much fun with them!  It's off to house cleaning and coupon cutting I go but here is a wrap up of whats been happening in my little world!

Vacation Bible School

The kids finished up a great week of bible school and sang some cool songs at the end.  They love VBS!  A memory that will last a lifetime.  Nothing like learning about the Bible!

Annual Ice Cream Supper

It's that time of year again and the kids have been asking all month, "How many more days mom until the ice cream supper?"  Well the day has finally arrived and we are going to the annual Ice Cream Supper tonight!  Nothing like getting to eat all the ice cream you want any kind you want for free!  I remember when I was younger my dad used to take mom and all us kids to the ice cream supper so it's a family tradition.  Look out rocky road here we come.

Raising Teens and Discipline

Raising children in today's world gives parents a whole different aspect as to what they face as compared to 100 years ago.  Back then they didn't have such things as cell phones, computers, motorcycles and all the worldly possessions that we try to obtain today.  It's hard to get a grip on your teen when they are a million miles away in cyberspace or texting their friends trying to make plans that don't match up with the plans you already have for them.  What do you do when you have a teen yelling and screaming thinking you are going to do things their way or no way?  Number one thing is to pray!  Ask God to help you be strong and give you wisdom as to what you should say and do when you have an out of control teen.  Pray in the name of Jesus and ask for all evil spirits to flee.  Speak in a slow soft tone even though you want to explode yourself because you don't understand why your teen would act in such a manner.  Don't give in when you set limits and expectations of your teen.  Even if it means an all niter reminding them that you are the parent when they are 16 and when they get to be 18 and move out then you will still be the parent but they can make their own choices then.  They will never be too old to get advice though it's just part of being a parent.  One day they will understand.  About the time they are in the same situation with their own child.

Storms and No Electricity

Yesterday the storms came through one right after another.  Sure enough the electricity went off and then off again for quite a while.  So we went into survival mode and my husband hooked up a generator and we were able to run the refrigerator,tv,internet and a few lights within minutes.  Having a generator sure came in handy and I would recommend you get one if you don't have one for emergencies.  The storms finally died down and they got the electricity back on now so all is well.

Beat the Heat

What a heat wave we have been experiencing! A scorching 104 degrees today.  At least we have electricity, from what I have been reading some people that were hit by the storms that went through are having to survive the heat with no electric.  Talk about hot they can't even keep cool drinks in the fridge.  So it could be worse. I am thankful as to what I have to try and survive this long drawn out heat wave.

Negative Pregnancy Test

Just an update for those who follow my blog to let you know I took another home pregnancy test yesterday and it was still faintly positive.  I continued to have bleeding yesterday though and the positive pregnancy test was probably just from leftover hcg still in my body as it doesn't just disappear over night when you have a miscarriage.  So a day later I take another pregnancy test and sure enough it was negative.  So I lost the baby.  This is never easy and only helps when I put it all in God's hands and remember let not my will but his be done.

Update on Pregnancy

While I am sitting here on bed rest I thought I would update you on the pregnancy.  A couple of days ago I started spotting.  Not much just a little here and there.  It got worse to the point I felt like I was having a period.  I have had bad pain in my stomach and took a couple of Tylenol to try and ease the pain.  The bleeding has continued and I should be 7 weeks pregnant today.  I had went to the Care pregnancy center and got confirmation that I was 6 weeks pregnant just last week.  I also signed up for the WIC program and when they tested my iron levels they were low at 9.  So the bleeding is not going to help that any either.  Until I can make a Dr. Appointment next week I am trying to be on bed rest.  Easier said then done.  When there is laundry and dishes to do and kids that want to eat you just have to get up and do it no matter how you feel.  Unless you have a maid that is :)  Updates to follow soon.

Wahmof6 to be Wahmof7

Yes thats right I took a home pregnancy test and it was positive!  Now wahmof6 will be wahmof7.  Not sure yet if I will change the site name or just leave it the same.  According to my calculations I am due around Feb 3, 2013 so I have a long time to think about it.  Lots of things going on here so much that I am to the point of thinking I will never get caught up.  We attended the local church Sunday and it was such a great lesson on not being self serving but serving others.  Sometimes we just get so caught up on ourselves we forget others have needs too.  Alot of the time they are more important than our own.  Try to help someone out this week.  I am sure they would be thankful and it is our duty!

Camping

We made it back from our first camping trip of the year!  We camped and fished and cooked out on the grill.  The kids had fun catching those fish but they were to little to keep so we had to throw them back.  We seen plenty of wildlife.  Snakes, birds, frogs, fish, geese and spiders.  What more do you need to make it a real camping trip?  It took all week to pack and will probably take a week to unpack but the kids had a blast and will remember it forever! It's  all worth it in the end.

Coupons pay off

After putting my couponing on hold for a little while I finally decided to get back on track and clip some more coupons.  I had a great week and ended up getting 16 free 2 liters from clipping coupons!  I cannot wait to see what I can get free next week to help my family out in the grocery line!  Just a tip to remember when couponing:  If the item you are after is totally sold out don't forget to ask for a raincheck so you can get the deal later when supplies are restocked.

Up and at em!

One of the famous words you here in the morning around here "Up and at em".  That's not a word some of you may say but that all just depends on where you live in the country.  Some of us country folks use that word quite often.  Any way I had a spur of the moment yard sale again, made a few extra bucks.  Let the kids earn some too since they helped set up the tables and drag all my yard sale items out again.  At least it didn't rain.  Praise God.  I got to go see Joyce Meyer out of the blue my neighbor asked if I wanted to go with her and I had always wanted to go see her teach the younger women as you may say. I was so blessed to get to go and even though we sit so far back you could hardly see her you could still hear the bible verses and teaching and that's what it's all about.  I sold a lot on eBay last week so I have that package ready to be picked up by the mail lady.  Everyone is up and at em except the two little ones who will be waking soon and ready to get their school work done.  That's it for updates as of today!

Updates from the country

Since I wrote last we have had two yard sales.  I experimented with different advertising routes and I do believe I need to just rent a building in town and get rid of it all!  We did ok but still have lots to sell.  We have one garden planted and hoping for no more freezing temps.  Lots more seeds to plant but I will be keeping some for my emergency bag too!  School is almost done for the year and we are enjoying the thought of summer break!  We ended up selling our horse and thinking about buying a cow or goat.  One of my boys are buying a piece of property and the waiting process is way to long when you are waiting on the closing date.  I know it will be here before we know it but we are excited for him to have his own place.  Well enough for now I have to go hang out a load of laundry and get the kids going on their homework.  Have a great day out there in blogland!

Spring is in the Air

What a beautiful day to wake up to. The birds are chirping and the warm heat from the sun is bringing spring into blossom. The garden spot is cleaned up and now we are waiting on the tiller motor to arrive so we can till the ground. Trigger made it back for the summer, (our horse). We got 2 new additions of hampsters to watch exercise. Let me tell you what I never knew they could run so much but that wheel could run all night long. This could be a science project, maybe we could generate some electricity off that :) Instead of a windmill a hampster mill. Anyway just an update with a thought that the mushrooms have to be getting close.

WAHMOF6 back HOME

Wow I can't hardly believe it is true but this is the first whole weekend I am not actually driving to work. I am finally back home where I belong. A real wahm. Now I am ready to start a little shop of my own here at the house. I will keep you updated on that. Some ebay sales and couponing too. Every penny helps!

Surfing the net through War Driving

Well you would probably never guess but right now I am sitting at McDonalds surfing the internet. Yes it's a new thing that you can do if you don't have the internet and need to check your mail. Or maybe you just want to save money for the month you would be paying for service and you can get these connections different places in your town. Take a night out and give it a try. See how many free internet connections are available in your area.
